The 4th Pakistan CIO Summit and the 2nd IT Showcase was held at the PC Hotel in Karachi on the 5th and 6th April. This mega event, organized by Solutions Inc., is widely considered as the biggest platform that attracts multiple CIOs and CEOs from the ICT sector of Pakistan. This year around, major guests included Ms. Anusha Rehman, the State Minister of IT and other government officials from PSEB. RapidCompute was a proud Session Sponsor at this event.

The theme for the event was ‘Solutions for Tomorrow: Vision 2020’. The summit opened with speeches by various executives from the industry including Khalid Raza, Co-founder and CTO, REDtone Telecommunications and Mir Nasir, CEO, Inbox Business Technologies who spoke on Digital Disruption. Mrs. Anusha Rehman Khan, Chief Guest of the event, spoke about the Ministry’s vision for IT to put in place an accelerated digitization ecosystem to enable socio-economic development, expand knowledge-based economy, and to spur economic growth. She also spoke about Pakistan’s presence in Upwork’s Top 5 countries, the world’s largest freelancing network, in terms of freelancing revenue.

There was also a panel discussion on the changing face of telecommunications and the evolving role of CIOs. Kamal Ahmed, Chief Digital Services Officer, PTCL was the moderator of this discussion that hosted panelists from Faysal bank, Standard Chartered, SSGC, Unilever Pakistan, Telenor, Sanofi Aventis, and Pak Suzuki Motors.

Mrs. Anusha Rehman also presented a memento to RapidCompute for its participation and sponsorship in the Summit. RapidCompute’s Division Head, Mr. Zaeem Arshad and his sales team were present on both days of the event where they networked with various CIOs, IT Heads and Managers of large and small organizations and discussed tailor made Cloud Solutions for them.

On the importance of events like the CIO Summit, Mr. Zaeem Arshad said: “I believe it is imperative for events like these to be held regularly, as there are not enough platforms for gatherings of prominent names from the IT Sector to discuss emerging trends and technologies. It gives us an opportunity to showcase our growth and strategy, and learn what likeminded people in the Industry are thinking.
