RapidCompute announces prizes for the winners
of Momentum Tech Conference

Young techies, entrepreneurs, startup enthusiasts, investors and speakers flocked to Karachi’s Expo Centre on the 6th-7th of February for Momentum Tech Conference that sought to promote the startup ecosystem. Momentum played the role of a bridge that connected young entrepreneurs and enthusiasts with investors and executives. The conference brought together approximately five thousand people from Pakistan and across the globe which included founders, investors, incubators, accelerators, mobile network institutions, government officials and media with a mission to unite the leaders of the global & Pakistani startup ecosystems looking to tap into the massive growth potential of Pakistan. Event sponsors included RapidCompute, Wi-tribe, TPL holdings, Telenor, Microsoft, BlueEast, E.OCEAN, TCS and Daewoo Express.
The event featured executives from some of the most prevalent tech startups and organizations such as P@SHA, Microsoft, Telenor, Homeshopping.pk, Careem, Pakwheels, Amazon web and IBM. Many staunch and resolute chief executives, directors, vice-presidents and co-founders present at the conference including, Dr. Ismail Shah, Director PTA, Dr. Jonathan Doerr, CEO Daraz Asia, Naeem Zamindar, CEO Acumen Pakistan, Hana Habayeb, Director Microsoft and many more officials with the same stature were present. The conference had a Startup Pitch competition as well where all the young entrepreneurs would showcase their idea and business in front of a panel of judges. After all the discussion was complete, the judges announced the winners of Startup Pitch competition which were Nearpeer, CampusFeed and SocialChamp.
Imran Khan, Commercial Head RapidCompute also spoke at the conference and met with the budding startups to discuss their ideas. For the Top 10 winners, RapidCompute also offered a package that included free of cost web presence, technical assistance with the best engineers in our team, as well as credit to run their machines on the RapidCompute cloud for the next 2 years.
Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Imran Khan graced the conference with his presence in the award ceremony. He gave a cheque of $10,000 to Sameer Ahmed Khan, co-founder and CEO of SocialChamp. CampusFeed and Nearpeer the startups from Plan9 bagged 3 lacs and 7 lacs respectively.
