Load Balancing distributes customer requests or network load resourcefully across numerous servers in the cloud. It ensures reliability and high availability by providing the required amount of load balancing capacity needed to distribute application traffic. Even if one server is down, traffic is re-routed to another live server via a load balancer.

A load balancer node selects a target using a flow hash algorithm, based on the protocol, source IP address, source port, destination IP address and destination port.

There are 2 types of load balancers available on the RapidCompute portal:

• Application Based Load Balancers
• Network Based Load Balancers
